FISKARS CERAMIC FAIR 2010

The Second Fiskars Ceramic Fair will take place on August 28th and 29th with ceramists selling their products such as; small sets, unique pieces as well as usable and artistic ceramics. This event will give visitors the opportunity to see, compare, and buy a broad range of ceramics as well as giving them the chance to get to know the ceramists themselves. There will be demonstrations where various preparation, firing and decoration techniques can be seen. Professional ceramists are welcome to apply from both Finland and abroad.

Ceramic fairs have a strong tradition in Central Europe. The most highly regarded of these are very well known and every year attract large crowds, gallerists, collectors, and those interested in ceramics. Organised in September 2008, the Fiskars Ceramic Fair 2008 was attended by 48 ceramists from Croatia, Finland, Germany and Estonia. The unveiling of a fire sculpture as part of the event attracted a big crowd and received lots of praise. The event received lots of publicity in the press and on the radio, and the Finnish Broadcasting Company ”YLE” made a programme about the event that was broadcast in October 2008.
